We are pleased to present the inaugural issue of Avant-Garde: A Journal of Peace, Democracy, and Science. Our journal seeks to advance the struggle of ideas at the dawning of a new revolutionary period in American and world history. Featuring both articles and artwork, our first issue is dedicated to Henry Winston (Chairman of the Communist Party USA, 1966-86), a great theorist and leader in the Black Freedom Struggle and World Communist Movement, who laid a scientific groundwork for grasping the logic of revolutionary change in our time. Avant-Garde is published by the Saturday Free School for Philosophy & Black Liberation.
