We are honored to have attended Saviours’ Day 2026 in Detroit as the guests of Brother Gregory and Sister Catherine Muhammad of Mosque #12 Philadelphia.

We felt at home with the Nation of Islam. Living in a country organized through the values and logic of white supremacy, we felt freed in our experience being among thousands of Black men and women. We were united in our moral values, striving for the divine and for revolutionary social transformation. In attending, we glimpsed what many Brothers and Sisters described as “heaven on earth”: a vision of Martin Luther King Jr.’s World House where world humanity has overcome the evils of white supremacy, united in peace and brotherhood.

We attended workshops “The Reality of God, Point #12”, “The Meaning of Civilization and What is the Duty of a Civilized Person” and the main address by Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. We encountered many beautiful believers from all over the nation and even the world, and encountered teachings that have immense value for all humanity.

We witnessed the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and Student Minister Ishmael as beloved leaders of Black people, delivering a divine message in a time of profound crisis in America. They affirmed that any promise for the fulfillment of democracy in America will need the leadership of Black civilization, a world historic people formed through centuries of struggle, sacrifice and moral commitment to the Truth.

Detroit is a cradle of the Nation of Islam, where the historic meeting of Master Fard Muhammad and the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad occurred in 1931. It is a city of Black civilizational achievement, of strong industrial development and of the singular gift of the Motown Sound.

Yet today, Detroit, like Philadelphia, visibly embodies the unkept promises of American democracy. Its towering, beautiful buildings are surrounded by blocks of vacant homes—monuments to deindustrialization and devastation. We see our cities as meccas in which we must work for a new moral order, a reorganization of America’s social, political and economic life around the promise of the human being.

Finally, we are in a moment of war in America. We face a crisis of moral leadership, a crisis of governance, and a dangerous world situation. Trump and the Zionist Epstein class have initiated war with Iran on our behalf, despite the majority of American people rejecting this war.

We recognize Iran, a Muslim nation, as concentrating the will of West Asian humanity in the crusade against the world system of white supremacy. We believe that Islam, as conceived by the Nation of Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran are intertwined in a common destiny. We honor the martyrs of Iran, especially the 170 young schoolchildren killed in Minab.

Today there is an urgent need to create warriors for peace, to end the bombing of children and to overcome the supremacy of whiteness in the world. We recognize the Brothers and Sisters of the Nation of Islam as making a great contribution in this struggle. We see the Nation of Islam as embodying the tradition of non-violent resistance conceived by King and Gandhi: a political strategy in which the human, fortified through civilization and in the upward reach for God, exercises Love to bend reality toward Truth.

In the Saturday Free School, we’re grateful to have been in fellowship with our family at Saviours’ Day, a conference of national and world significance, and look forward to being together again soon.
